LCM

OVERVIEW 

ATE provides year round professional development for teacher candidates and veteran teachers. Teachers can earn CPE hours for their attendance, which can be used toward the renewal of their Standard certificate. 

 

Workshops are provided by experts in their fields, and topics include but are not limited to:

  • Classroom Management
  • Cultural Efficacy
  • Building  Healthy Relationships
  • Working with students with special needs

Professional Development Series

Each semester ATE hosts a series of workshops with 2-3 workshops being held each month. Workshops are free and open to the public. Workshops are held both on weekdays and weekends to accommodate different schedules. Interested participants should RSVP for all the workshops they are interested in attending. Those registered will receive emails the week of the event with specific event details. 

 

STEMsation

Each fall ATE hosts STEMsation. This is a day-long professional development mini-institute with workshops focusing on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

 

Summer Bridging Institute

The Summer Bridging Institute (SBI) is a week-long professional development institute held annually during July. At this institute participants are prepared to face the special challenges of a culturally and linguistically diverse classroom. Session topics include cultural differences, instructional activities, ethical and legal guidelines, and an introduction to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
