Summer Programs


Below is information regarding the summer programs that the Academy for Teacher Excellence Research Center (ATE) will be offering for elementary through middle school and community college students. 


Elementary and Middle School

ATE is hosting two summer camps for 1stthrough 8thgrade students. 


ATE is partnering with the College of Engineering and the Institute of P-20 Initatives to host the Girl CodeRunners summer camp at Good Samaritan Community Services for middle school age girls. Campers will expand the students’ experience and interest in the STEM fields through hands on experience with web design, animation, gaming, and much more. 



ATE will be hosting a series of six sessions during the summer for 1st through 8thgrade students centered around Science, Technology, Reading/Language Arts, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics utilizing tenets of robotics, coding, and the nepohualtzitzin (an ancient Mayan abacus). 


Community College Students 

Transfer Academy for Future Teachers (TAFT) 
ATE is partnering with the Institute of P-20 Intiatives to host a Summer Bridging Institute for community college students majoring in education who will be transferring to UTSA in Fall 2019 or Spring 2020.
